From 2026, if ten or fewer teams enter the Qualifier, this competition will automatically become the Championship event, and no additional Championship event will be held later in the year. With ten or fewer teams, the competition can be run in the allocated time.
2025 Entry Notes
- Entries open Friday, 25th April 2025.
- Entries close Friday, 16th May 2025.
- Teams must be available to play from 8.30 a.m. on Thursday, June 12th, and the Playoffs will be held on Sunday, June 16th.
- The start times and draw will be confirmed after entries are received.
- Teams are advised NOT to book any flights until the draw is confirmed.
- Player eligibility and playing conditions are set down in the New Zealand Curling Association Tournaments Procedures and the WCF Rules of Curling.
- The tournament draw will be confirmed a week after entries close or as advised.
- A point system for pool ranking will potentially be implemented in 2025, and the results of the teams from the past two national tournaments will be used. More information will be communicated by the entry open date.
- Team Uniforms: NZCA encourages teams to wear match tops and/or uniforms in tournaments so team members are easily identifiable.
- To allow time for ice preparation, no team is allowed to practice on the ice later than 3 hours before the commencement of an NZCA National Curling Championship or as advised in the tournament rules accompanying the draw.
- No competitors can use MAP sponsorship ice a week leading up to the NZMD Qualifier.
- The team entry fee is $300. There is no entry fee for the Championship held in August.
- One team member is responsible for promptly paying the entry fee to NZCA.
- Teams can pay online at the time of entry or directly to NZCA: 03-1733-0116697-00. Use your team name and 'Doubles' as reference details.
- Invoices are available on request.
- Teams are to pay their entry fee by tournament commencement; otherwise, they may be unable to take the ice.
- All entrants must be affiliated directly with a Club or NZCA. Please contact the NZCA Administration Officer for more details. This does not apply to Secondary School Students.
- The top teams from this event will qualify for the NZ Championship, held from Thursday, August 17th, to Sunday, August 20th, 2025.
