17 Aug 2023 – Dave Watt, Lorne DePape, Phil Dowling and Stew Scott had a clean sweep through the double round robin at the NZ Senior Championships last weekend to claim the gold medal.

The tournament, with just three teams entered in the Men's division, was held alongside the NZ Mixed Doubles Championship at Naseby's Maniototo Curling International rink.

The tournament format called for a gold medal match to be held in the event of no team being undefeated through the round-robin, so the playoff match became a contest for the silver medal. Peter Becker, Richard Morgan, Nelson Ede, Murray Pitts and Dave Greer secured the silver with a 7-2 win over Dean Fotti, Ian Ford (skip), Doug Charko and Rhys Greensill.

Joanna Olszewski, Liz Matthews, Pauline Farra and Sandra Thomas were the only team to enter the Senior Women's event. They, with Team Dave Watt, have earned the right to contest the 2024 World Championship as Team New Zealand.
